90 Minute Yin Yoga Class
Yin yoga is one of my all-time favorite classes! Yin yoga is a very slow-paced style of yoga, incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine, with asanas (postures) that are held for longer periods of time than in other styles. Yin yoga targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, and the deep fascia networks of the body – rather than the muscles, which are the physical focus of the Yang yoga practices.
In general, a yin approach works to promote flexibility in areas often perceived as nonmalleable, especially in the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. It’s a powerful class where the magic occurs in the timing of the poses, not in the effort. It’s a wonderful class for cultivating a meditative state and practice “letting go”.
